How big is a name puzzle?
Each letter is 2 to 3 inches wide and 4 to 6 inches tall. The average 6 letter name is 18 inches long.
How long do orders take?
We do have many names in stock. About 1400 puzzles! At most times of the year, we try to get your puzzle to you in the mail in 2 to 3 weeks. We don't usually use courier due to cost of shipping.
Can I choose the colours and animals?
Zoodonyms prefers to create the name. We try to incorporate as many colours and animals as we can. Some letters and animals work very well together. Primary, bright colours are our basic recipe. We can do names in BRIGHT LIGHT colours. These go well in baby nursery decor. I would call them pastels but they are still bright, not pale or soft!
'Oh, you wouldn't have this name! I can never find it!' We hope to surprise you. We stock many popular names and actually check the 'list of top 100 names' every year, and stats Canada information. We try to have 1400 puzzles in stock. We check the www.todaysparent.com top 100 names in Canada every year.
WHAT TYPE OF WOOD PRODUCTS ARE USED IN ZOODONYMS NAMES?
We use plywood called Baltic Birch. It is not a local wood but it is best for fine cutting and a smooth finish. Increasingly we have trouble with wood quality. Please consider the fact that wood is a natural product and grain effects cutting and staining.
What products are used in the finish?
Zoodonyms uses high gloss acrylic paints. We use water based lacquer. These are made in North America.
My child is 7, is he too old for this?
No, kids love to have their own name to decorate with and make as a puzzle. We sell our name puzzles most often as new baby gifts. We suggest that the puzzle be displayed until the child is 3 to 4 years old. Some of the pieces are too small, and children may be tempted to chew on pieces. We have heard from past customers who have kept their puzzles for years, and hung them in their University dorm room!
How would I hang this puzzle up?
Many people use small finishing nails. Not through the puzzle pieces but just in the wall under sections which are horizontal. (like in the letter 't' or in the 'o')Another idea is to use Velcro pieces to attach the name to a door. Zoodonyms does sell a wooden shelf if you prefer.
WHERE ELSE CAN I BUY ZOODONYMS?
We attend several craft/art shows thru the year. Please e-mail 3 weeks in advance if you wish to reserve a puzzle to pick up at a show!
